Two New Stamps: The Happy Prince and Gulliver’s Travels

An Post, the Irish Postal Service recently asked me to design a pair of stamps based on some of my best known work for the Europa series, whose theme this year is classic Children’s Books.
I revisited and reworked illustrations I had done for "The Happy Prince" by Oscar Wilde and "Gulliver’s Travels" by Jonathan Swift.
The stamps and first day cover have just been published and I'm really pleased with them.
I look forward to travelling to Cavan someday to stick the 2 inch Gulliver stamp on the wall beside the 8 foot tall original painting.

My dear Mr. Lynch,

Since I bothered you in the first place, I thought I should keep you updated. I found and bought your followings titles:Snow Queen,East of Sun & West of moon,Bee-man of Orn,Gift of the magi. My personal favourite is the Bee-man of Orn, probably due to the warm colours used, the big size of the book and the fact that old peoples' faces are good for drawing since the result is so expressive.

I really cannot describe how much I admire your work. I am using you as a teacher, as I am trying to learn by myself to paint since I never had the opportunity to attend a school. And I may say (without meaning to flatter you in any way, believe me), that, oh! what a fine teacher you are...

By the way, the stamps look wonderful.

Greetings - Georgina

These are awesome, PJ. It's great seeing Gulliver up close. He looks a lot like Ian Mckellen when he was younger. Congrats on yet another wonderful achievement with the new stamps.
