Upcoming Workshops

My next portrait sketch workshop at KennedyArt is on 15th Feb
and we have scheduled the next one after that for the 8th March but I do know that they are booking up pretty quickly.
Contact Kennedy's for information about their workshops. ph  + 353 (1) 475 1749info@kennedyart.com

Here's a sketch I did of Molly from an earlier workshop.

Those of you with connections in the North West of Ireland may be interested to know that my FB friend Anne Brady (brady.anne@rocketmail.com) is kindly organizing a two day portrait painting workshop with me tutoring in Cavan in early May.
More details later.

Portrait Sketch of Des

Des was our model for Saturday's very enjoyable workshop at Kennedy Art.
This is my demo after 25 minutes.
I love painting Des and my students all loved working with him too.
He has such a handsome head, but also shows loads of character.
He can even look a bit sinister when he's concentrating but in fact he's a real sweetie.

A Sailor in Action

Here's a sailor from the nautically flavoured book I am working on now.
I had a lot of fun playing about with the light effects on this guy.

Drawing Tony at the UAC

I had a good evening drawing Tony at Brian's life drawing session at the Uac Dublin last night. Here's a 15 minute portrait study and a full figure that took 20 minutes.
I drew them in charcoal and chalk on Ingres Paper.

Bringing Bouguereau to Life

Here is a slightly strange short film from Italy that brings a lot of  academic realist paintings to life through Flash animation type techniques.
Some of it is very cool,  some is good fun and a few bits are definitely off colour.
Look out for the zombie girl by Vermeer.
Well worth a watch.

Sophie: A Portrait Sketch

Here is the portrait sketch of Sophie that I did at KennedyArt a few weeks ago.
I added a bit of tone afterwards hoping to lose a lot of those edges along Sophie's cheek(the right one as we look at it).
Her colour is always a challenge to capture but my students all did a great job on the day.
I am very much looking forward to future workshops at KennedyArt.
The next two are on the 25th of January and the 15th February.
Contact Kennedy's for information about their workshops. ph  + 353 (1) 475 1749info@kennedyart.com

And I will post details soon of a two day workshop that we will be doing in Cavan in the coming months.
