The Nightingale and the Rose

There's a very interesting article on Katherine Langrish's excellent Steel Thistles blog about 'The Nightingale and the Rose' by Oscar Wilde.
Mary Hoffman writes about her fondness for Wilde's poignant tale of love and sacrifice and Katherine has illustrated the piece with my illustration from "Oscar Wilde: Stories for Children".

Also on Steel Thistles, the Fairytale Reflections by a really interesting series of guest authors are well worth poring through.

My Russian Book Covers

Many thanks to my FaceBook friend Maxim Mitrofanov who sent me these Russian covers of some of my books.
I do get sent most of my foreign editions but somehow I don't think I had seen these.
For me the Russian typography adds a beautiful quality of mystery to these covers.

"Oscar Wilde: Stories for Children" still a bestseller

When I was up visiting Niamh at Hodges Figgis it was nice to see my "Oscar Wilde; Stories for Children" book is still in the bestsellers charts twenty two years after publication.
Below are some paintings from the book.

Oscar Wilde: Stories for Children

It's nice to see "Oscar Wilde; Stories for Children" doing so well in the Irish Bestsellers.
Not bad for a book I illustrated twenty years ago.
